The term sgraffito comes from the term graffiare, which means “to scratch”. In this technique, surface layers of color, and in this case enamel, are scratched or drawn through to reveal the colors beneath. You will learn a variety of techniques for layering colors using liquid enamels, powdered enamels, acrylic painting enamels, pigments and more. We will also cover the step-by-step technique I use in creating my own popular sgraffito pieces, as well as helpful tips and shortcuts that will save you time and effort. Basic enameling experience required.
